As of 6:03 p.m. April 4, there have been a total of 49,214 confirmed COVID-19 cases of incarcerated persons in the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) system – 27 of which are active cases among in custody inmates; 26 new over the last 14 days; 48,358 of which have been resolved; 611 reported as “released while active;” and 218 deaths.
Chuckawalla Valley State Prison’s (CVSP) April 4 data reported one active COVID positive cases among in custody inmates – with one case reported as new over the last 14 days, a 1,784 cumulative total, 1,754 resolved, 20 released while active, and nine deaths.
Ironwood State Prison’s (ISP) data, as of April 4, also has zero active positive COVID-19 cases among in custody inmates – with no new cases reported over the last 14 days, a 1,568 cumulative total, 1,556 resolved, 11 released while active, and one death.
“Active case count by date may be delayed 2-3 days while awaiting test results,” notes CDCR.
As of March 26, there are a reported 206 active CDCR/California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) COVID-19 employee cases statewide – 115 of which are new over the last 14 days, with a 16,090 cumulative total, and 15,884 of whom have returned to work.
There have been 26 COVID-19 related CDCR staff deaths, to include one from ISP last year on June 3 and one from CVSP earlier this year on Jan. 20 (originally reported by CDCR as Jan. 19).
CVSP’s March 26 total cumulative confirmed COVID-19 positives among staff is reported at 282, with 276 noted to have returned to work, and six active cases – five of which are new over the last 14 days.
ISP’s total cumulative confirmed COVID-19 positives among staff as of March 26 is reported at 382, with 378 noted to have returned to work, and four active cases – three of which are new over the last 14 days.
