On the morning of Aug. 31, following several calls at approximately 10:48 a.m., Blythe Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a single-vehicle traffic collision in the 1100 block of N. Broadway that resulted in a 19-year-old local being flown out due to injuries.
“When Officers arrived in the area they found a red 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Truck had lost control and collided into a SCE (Southern California Edison) power pole,” stated BPD. “The driver of the vehicle was a 19 year old Blythe man who was injured as a result of the accident. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.”
Later that day, SCE personnel were seen on-site addressing the residential-area utility pole.
BPD noted to the Times that although the extent of the driver’s injuries were unknown at the scene, the 19-year-old was airlifted out.
“Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as a factor in the traffic collision,” stated BPD. “Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at (760) 922-6111 or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273).”
