Appleby's 'Festival of Lights' holiday event returns: Parents invited Dec. 13 at school's cafeteria

Felix J. Appleby Elementary School (10321 E. Vernon Ave.) teachers and staff are inviting local parents and students to the annual “Festival of Lights” holiday event, Dec. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event, which began in 2014, has become a hometown holiday tradition which Appleby has provided for local families.

In years past, the event has brought mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, together at the campus to enjoy a decorated “Habitat” trail of thousands of holiday lights for all attendees to enjoy – along with various fun activities.

No entrance fee is charged for the special event. Tickets for activities – .25 cents or four for $1 – will be available for the below fun:

Christmas Cards for the Military: Free

Make a Christmas Noodle Necklace: Free

Christmas Karaoke: Free

Picture Booth: Free

Chalk Art: 1 Ticket

Make a Picture Frame: 2 Tickets

Chimney Present Toss or Snowman Bean Bag Toss: 2 Tickets

Glow Golf: 2 Tickets

Bowling Snowman: 2 Tickets

Tree Ornament: 2 Tickets

Tree Painting: 2 Tickets

Jingle Bracelet: 2 Tickets

Rock Painting: 3 Tickets

Make a Pinecone Ornament: 3 Tickets

Decorate Cookies: 3 Tickets

Face Painting: 4 Tickets

Food will also be avialable for attendees:

Holiday carol and song performances by the TK, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th Grade classes will be heard – as well as the band! Expected are two to four singing/dancing performances.

Event organizers are currently trying to book Santa Claus for photos, but not yet confirmed – tentative, given Old St. Nick’s schedule.
