Blythe local charged in molestation, child porn case: ‘More than 600 images’ of minors allegedly found

On Jan. 5, 22-year-old Blythe local Dominic Gabriel Urias plead not guilty to alleged felony violations including Penal Code (PC) section 288.7(b), willful and unlawful participation in an act of oral copulation or sexual penetration (with) a child 10 years of age or younger; PC section 288.7(a), engaging in sexual intercourse or sodomy (with) a child 10 years of age or younger (six counts); PC section 288(b)(1), lewd act with a child under 14 years of age with force; PC section F311.11(a), possession of matter depicting a minor in a sexual act; and PC section 311.4(c), use of minor for obscene matter.

Urias also denied an enhancement charge alleging a violation of PC section 311(c)(1), images of minor under the age of 12.

According to the prosecuting Riverside County District Attorney Office’s filed complaint obtained by the Times and the according enhancement charge, Urias stands accused of having “possessed more than 600 images in violation of Penal Code section 311.11, subdivision (a), and the matter contains 10 or more images involving a prepubescent minor and a minor who has not attained 12 years of age(.)”

The charges follow the arrest at 6:42 p.m. on Dec. 30, of Urias – with the arresting agency listed as the Riverside County District Attorney – in the area of N. Birch St. in Blythe.

The Jan. 5 felony in-custody arraignment at the Blythe branch Riverside County Superior Courthouse saw Urias’ bail set at $1,000,000, with a felony settlement conference scheduled for the morning of Jan. 14 and a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 19.

Urias remains in custody and, as noted in the complaint, faces a potential life sentence if convicted.
