Blythe’s 2019 Crain Family Christmas Parade community organizers are continuing to seek entrants from area youth groups, local organizations, businesses, service clubs, churches, and neighbors to participate in this year’s staple hometown holiday event.

With a fast-approaching Dec. 5 entrants deadline coming up, the Blythe Christmas Parade volunteer leaders are hoping folks sign up as soon as possible.

“We need applicants for the Christmas Parade. The Christmas Parade is this Dec. 7, starts at 5-o’clock. Applications are available at City Hall, on the city’s website; or available at the Palo Verde Valley Times; the Palo Verde Valley Transit Agency; and Century 21,” stated Blythe Mayor Dale Reynolds at the Nov. 12 City Council meeting’s closing reports. “The Christmas Parade is less than a month away and we really need to get moving, so anybody that’s interested – please, make contact with me, come to City Hall, and we’ll get you set up.”

The parade is slated to travel west down Hobsonway from Fifth St. to 1455 W. Hobsonway (ending at the old Kmart parking lot). This year’s event is being put together and presented by committed area leaders who’ve stepped up in the stead of the Blythe Chamber of Commerce, which is currently in a re-organization period.

The goal is to bring the parade back to local and regional prominence with a theme of “An Old Fashion Christmas” and the help of as many creative entrants as possible.

Entry forms may be picked up right now at any of the below locations:

Blythe City Hall

235 N. Broadway

Palo Verde Valley Transit Agency

415 N. Main St.

Palo Verde Valley Times

“It is requested that all entries be lighted and have some type of music for the benefit of the spectators. Judging will be based on EXECUTION OF THEME, ORIGINALITY OF DESIGN, and SPECTATOR APPEAL,” states the 2019 entry form — which also reminds folks that event organizers will be providing the only Santa Claus.

Blythe Councilmember and local business owner Joe Halby of Halby’s will donate the trophies for the honored float awards again this year.
