On Monday, (Sept. 13, 2021), at about 5 (p.m.), Blythe Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call to the 500 block of S. 3rd Street, in the City of Blythe, in reference to a female reporting her child had been shot in the head.
Blythe Police Detectives were first on scene and saw a juvenile (victim) crying, with visible injuries to (his/her) face.
Blythe Police Officers helped render aid until relieved by Blythe City Fire Department.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department arrived and assisted in securing the crime scene.
The (v)ictim stated (he/she) had been shot in the face by a Black male whom (he/she) recognized lived in the same apartment complex.
The suspect was later identified as Jonathan Guillory.
Blythe Police Detectives obtained information that Guillory left the area in a black SUV.
(The v)ictim was flown out for further medical aid.
All surrounding agencies were notified about the incident and were given the suspect and vehicle information.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) located the suspect vehicle on the I-10 freeway near (Highway) 78 and had the suspect detained.
Blythe Police Officers arrived and took Guillory into custody without further incident. Guillory was booked into the Blythe Jail for 664/187 PC (Penal Code) Attempted Murder, 29800(a)(1) PC-Felon in Possession of Ammunition, 30305(a)(1) PC-Felon in possession of firearm, 1203.2(a) PC-Probation Violation.
