BPD arrest 'transient sex registrant' for failing to register

At a scheduled Sept. 15 felony in-custody arraignment in Riverside Superior Court, 44-year-old Timothy Joseph Amundson is expected to plea not guilty, guilty, or no contest to an alleged felony violation of Penal Code (PC) section 290.011(a), failure to register as a sex offender.

Additionally, Amundson is expected to plea not guilty, guilty, or no contest to alleged misdemeanor violations of Health & Safety Code (H&S) section 11350(a), possession of a narcotic controlled substance, and H&S section 11364(a), possession of unlawful paraphernalia.

The Sept. 15 date follows previously calendared felony incustody arraignments originally scheduled for Sept. 9, Sept. 10, Sept. 13, and Sept. 14.

“On Friday, September 3, 2021, at about 9:20 p.m., Blythe Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 7th St. and Hobsonway, regarding a transient interfering with one of the businesses in the area. Officers contacted the transient who identified himself as Timothy Joseph Amundson, 44, from St. Paul, Minnesota,” stated BPD. “An information check revealed Amundson was listed as a Sex Predator out of Washington State and out of compliance. Officers arrested Amundson for failing to register as a transient sex registrant. Officers also found an undisclosed number of Fentanyl pills and drug paraphernalia on Amundson.”

BPD further stated Amundson was arrested without further incident. Jail information notes Amundson’s arrest time as 9:36 p.m. on Sept. 3.

Amundson remains in custody, with bail set at $10,000.
