On Dec. 10, the Blythe Police Department (BPD) incident and activity reports for the months of October and November 2019 showed increases in the categories of battery (from 6 to 15), alarm – residential (18 to 26), shopliftings (11 to 19), commercial burglaries (2 to 7), public intoxications (1 to 5), traffic collisions – hit and run (2 to 4), grand theft (2 to 4), and vandalisms (29 to 30).
Petty theft saw a slight decrease (from 30 to 24), but remained among the top three most reported incidents for the month behind only vandalisms (30) and alarm – residential (26).
To date, BPD’s submitted monthly domestic violence incident report numbers total 105 in 2019.
Slight decreases were seen in vehicle burglaries (from 7 to 3) and residential burglaries (9 to 5).
Documented police reports saw a 14-incident increase (from 190 to 204), with a total number of incidents reported by BPD for the month of November seeing a 112 decrease (from 1,638 to 1,526).
The month of November saw the law enforcement agency’s support of the “Civil Servants for Santa” kids’ benefit event by selling raffle tickets in the lead-up to the event.
The monies raised helped provide the funds towards the designated children’s shopping spree as part of the annual area agencies’ holiday tradition event. For pictures of the event, turn to pages A6 and B1 of this issue.
