Palo Verde College’s (PVC) 10-week P.R.I.C.E. (Positivity, Responsibility, Influence, Consequence, Encouragement) “Principles of Communication” (CHD 227) course is back this fall, from Oct. 8 through Dec. 10.
The class is free to any parent and/or staff of Palo Verde Unified School District (PVUSD), with registration open now and up to the Oct. 8 starting date.
The evening classes will run once a week during the two-month timeframe, every Tuesday, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Ruth Brown Elementary School’s (N. 7th St.) library.
“P.R.I.C.E. is a unique 10 session course to teach basics of positive parenting. Skills taught are alternatives to yelling and hitting, limit setting, follow through, logical consequences, responsibility, chores and money, family dialoguing, self-control, and self-esteem,” states the PVC P.R.I.C.E. program. “Any teacher, parent, grandparent, high school student, supervisor, aide, manager, (and/or) child care provider will benefit from this Child Development Class.”
Course participants will be eligible to receive:
• Free child care provided;
• a parent packet;
• Certificate of Completion;
• and the class’ “How to Talk so Kids will Listen & Listen so Kids will Talk” textbook.
Course instructors will include Louise Alford and Trudy Conley Williams, lifelong local educators who’ve taught the CHD 227 curriculum over 75 times.
