PVVTA 'Holiday Lightrunner' community tour returns, Dec. 10-12: Free event set for this weekend

A long-standing tradition in town is set to make a December return this weekend (Dec. 10-12), as the Palo Verde Valley Transit Agency’s (PVVTA) annual “Holiday Lightrunner” community lights tour rides once again for Blythe area families to enjoy.

The three-evening event is free, at no-cost, this year and will be begin boarding at the transit authority’s Operations Center at the respective times.

“PVVTA is pleased to announce the Annual Holiday Lightrunner 2021 brought to you by Desert Roadrunner. This event will take place at the PVVTA Operations Center (415 N. Main Street, Blythe, CA) from Friday December 10th through Sunday December 12th, 2021, with trips originating between 6 (p.m.) and 9 (p.m.) nightly. Fare is FREE for all riders and vehicles can follow the bus along route for added COVID safety,” stated PVVTA on Dec. 3.

As further noted, trips will depart from PVVTA’s Operation Center at the top of every hour.

This past weekend, the PVVTA team also participated in the area holiday season’s Civil Servants for Santa benefit for select area kids and the much-anticipated return of Blythe’s Crain Family Christmas Parade.

The Holiday Lightrunners’ return will be a welcome tradition comeback following 2020’s cancelation due to the COVID climate’s public health and safety impact.

“(This year, g)uests will enjoy a memorable bus ride around the community to view Holiday decorations while listening to seasonal music. Entertainment, food, fun, and vendors will also be on hand. COVID prevention (and) distancing is encouraged at all times. Masking is required on all buses per TSA guidelines,” noted PVVTA. “For more information please call 760-922-1140 or on social media @pvvtablythe(. H)ave a safe holiday season and thank you for supporting public transit. Merry Christmas!”
