In an effort to further boost neighboring Quartzsite Elementary School District #4 students’ technological initiatives and education, energy corporation TransCanada recently awarded a total of $9,000 in funds toward the purchase of 50 Chromebooks and accessories for the K-8 students.
“TransCanada Corporation awarded Ehrenberg Elementary and Quartzsite Elementary with $4,500 each today,” stated Quartzsite Elementary School District #4. “Board member Michael Clowser, Superintendent Mrs. (Raquel) Burton and Ms. Holly Brown worked together to request funds for the District’s Technology Initiative.”
The goals of the district’s tech initiative are:
• To increase students’ productivity and engagement in and outside the classroom.
• To provide anytime access to learning via content rich media, web tools, and applications, educational resources, textbooks, and collaborative opportunities.
• To prepare students to live and work in a digital environment by applying the knowledge and skills needed for future learning and workforce.
• To be able to take state assessments online instead of paper based testing.
On Nov. 1, TransCanada’s own Christopher Egan and Mick Kotlarz were greeted and thanked by excited students and staff after presenting the donated checks to the respective schools.
“TransCanada is helping Ehrenberg Elementary and Quartzsite Elementary achieve these goals by their generous contribution,” stated Quartzsite Elementary School District #4.
