A 33-year-old female passenger, identified as Josie Montijo of El Centro, Calif., per the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau, sustained fatal injuries on Dec. 15 as a result of a two-car traffic collision on the Interstate 10.
Blythe station California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Dec. 17 release reports the time of the incident as 10:14 p.m.
“(Jose W. Radaza), a 53 year old male, was driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla (Vehicle #1), on westbound I-10, east of MPM (Mile Point Marker) 110, in the (number one) lane at an unknown speed, approaching Vehicle #2 (2010 Mercedes). Party #2 (Karenbir S. Kalourai), a 40 year old male, was driving a 2010 Mercedes C300, in the (number one lane), undetermined whether at a slow rate of speed or stopped, ahead of (the Corolla),” stated CHP. “(The Toyota) collided with the rear of (the Corolla). After the collision, (The Toyota) came to rest on the right shoulder, facing in a westerly direction. (The Corolla) came to rest in the center median, facing in a northerly direction. As a result of the impact between the (Toyota) and (the Corolla), (the Corolla’s) right front passenger sustained fatal injuries.”
Radaza, a resident of Indio, Calif., sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
Kalouria, a resident of Calexico, Calif., also sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the Desert Regional Medical Center. Additionally, Kalouria was arrested for possible DUI (Driving Under the Influence).
“The traffic collision is currently under investigation, details and cause pending,” stated CHP.
